Geneva's lakeside summer festival — fireworks competition, food stalls, music stages and family rides each August — 3 fêtes de genève activities and attractions July 25, 2026 to August 20, 2026.
The Fêtes de Genève typically run for about three weeks from late July through mid-August in Geneva. The headline fireworks night ("Embrasement") falls on a Saturday in early-to-mid August. Check the official programme published in May/June each year for exact 2026 dates.
Very much so — there's a dedicated children's area on the Plaine de Plainpalais or the lakeside promenade with carousel rides, bouncy castles, face painting and family workshops. The earlier evening fireworks shows are designed for younger children with shorter sequences and lower volume. Push-chairs work everywhere.
Both sides of the lake offer good views. The Pâquis side gets the closest sound but fills early. Quieter alternatives: Parc La Grange (with a picnic), the Eaux-Vives jetty, or a boat cruise (book weeks ahead). Bring blankets, water and ear protection for very young children — the finale is loud.
Most of the festival is free: the fireworks, the lakeside stages, the food markets and the family activities are all open access. Some headline concerts and the boat cruises charge admission. Geneva's public transport is included with most hotel stays.
